In 1994 the Basketball Team was the first basketball team to win the State Championship in Wheeler's history!

Racked with injuries the team still strove for nothing but the best Wheeler suffered a defeat to Pope High School in the Regional Finals and became Region 6 AAAA Runner-ups. In the state tournament Wheeler defeated Lithia Springs, Clarke Central, Beach, and Valdosta en route to the state championship. The road marked the amazing journey for which its travelers deserve our utmost admiration.
